ABOUT ME
“Someday I’ll pick up a brush and paint my feelings.”
Hello there!
I am a contemporary realist painter based in Canada, specialising in creating compelling pet portraits using soft pastels, charcoal, and watercolour. Over time, I have also developed a deep love for painting birds, often exploring their character and quiet beauty in my work. My artistic journey began in 2013 as a freelancer, and since then I have completed numerous commissioned portraits and found homes for many of my bird and abstract paintings.
From childhood, I was fascinated by the idea of reinventing the world around me on paper, and I started drawing very early in life. That curiosity led me to study at an Art and Animation college, where I explored different mediums, styles, and subjects. I was especially drawn to realism and portraiture, and artists such as Casey Baugh, Dirk Dzimirsky, and David Kassan became enduring sources of inspiration. After college, I balanced a full-time job while steadily refining my portrait drawing skills, and I later worked as an independent, full-time art instructor for three years.
Although I have ventured into digital and fluid art, as well as wedding and graphic design, my true devotion lies in traditional Fine Art. At present, I am nurturing a deep affinity for pet portraiture, striving to capture not just likeness, but the emotional connection people share with their animals. My ultimate dream is to devote more time to developing a distinctive artistic voice and creating emotionally resonant pieces that feel honest and alive.
