FAQ's: COMMISSIONS & PURCHASES
Please visit the Commission tab on my website for a step-by-step overview of the process and pricing. If you’d like to move forward, you can submit a booking request using the form on the Contact page.
These are the types of portraits I offer:
- Pet Portraits – Individual or Group
- Human Portraits – Individual or Group
The Commission tab on my website outlines my base pricing. To receive a final quote based on your selected options, please fill out the booking request form on the Contact page. If the quote suits you, you may then submit the form to proceed.
The artwork pricing is influenced by factors such as:
- Size: Larger portraits will cost more due to the increased time and materials.
- Medium: Different art mediums ( e.g., charcoal, pastels, watercolors) come with varying costs.
- Complexity: Painted or elaborate backgrounds, accessories, and intricate elements may incur additional charges.
- Number of Subjects: Each additional subject in the portrait will result in extra charges.
- Framing: Opting for framing will incur added costs for materials and labor.
- Shipping and Handling: Charges will apply if the portrait needs to be gift-wrapped, packed and shipped to a specific location.
The time required to complete a commissioned portrait can vary based on factors such as the size, medium, complexity, and my current workload. The completion timelines may span from weeks to months from the time the order has been placed.
The Contact with the booking form will indicate which month’s deliveries I am currently accepting bookings for. If you require a rush order, you may still submit the form, and I will get back to you personally. Rush orders can only be accommodated when feasible.
Yes, I’m happy to offer a discount when multiple individual portraits are commissioned.
In most cases, to capture the best expressions of each pet, I recommend providing individual reference photos. I will create a digital mock-up to combine them in the most appealing composition and have it approved by you before beginning the portrait. Since this process requires additional work, an extra fee will apply.
All portraits are created on pastel-colored toned paper that complements their fur tone. For any custom or colored background, you may select the add-on option in the booking form. After your booking is placed, I will provide a digital mock-up with suggested background color options for your approval.
For additional props, please add a note, and I’ll get back on the quotation based on the complexity of the prop.
I understand that sometimes circumstances may require a change in plans. Here’s how I handle cancellations or rescheduling of commissioned portrait projects:
Cancellations: If you cancel within 24 hours of placing the order, the entire booking is refunded. The booking amount will be charged in case of any cancellations after 24 hours of placing the booking.
Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule the project due to unforeseen circumstances, please reach out to discuss the situation. I will do my best to accommodate your new timeline and work with you to adjust the project schedule accordingly.
To create a portrait, I will need the following information from you:
Reference Photos: High-resolution images of the subject from different angles and in good lighting.
Below are some examples:

To confirm your commission, an initial 50% non-refundable deposit is required. Once the deposit is received and the commission agreement is signed, your spot will be secured in my schedule, and the portrait creation process will begin according to the agreed-upon timeline. The pending balance of the artwork is due before I proceed with framing/shipping.
I offer standard, affordable framing options in black or brown engineered wood frames. I also include a colored mat that complements the artwork.
For local orders in sizes 9×12″ and 12×16″, the frames include glass. For shipping orders, all frames use plexiglass for safer transit. Larger artworks are also framed with plexiglass.
The artwork will be securely packaged to ensure it reaches you safely. It will include a basic white mat to prevent the glassine sheet used for protection from touching the artwork. However, I do not recommend using this mat for display purposes.
The Contact with the booking form will indicate which months’ deliveries I am currently accepting bookings for. If you require a rush order, you may still submit the form with your requested timeline, and I will get back to you personally. Rush orders can only be accommodated when feasible and will be charged extra.

If you choose shipping, either locally or internationally, charges will depend on the artwork’s size, whether it is framed, and whether you select regular or expedited delivery.
You may also opt for insurance and signature-on-delivery. Please note that I am not liable for any damage or loss during transit.
For shipped artworks, you are required to select signature delivery so that the shipment remains insured against loss or damage. In the rare event that the artwork is damaged or lost in transit, I will not be liable for a refund or a redo, and the order will need to be placed again.
The delivery method depends on your personal preferences. We’ll discuss the options during the initial consultation, but feel free to go through the options here:
- Digital File: Receive a high-resolution digital file for online sharing, printing, or archiving.
- Physical Painting: Have the traditional artwork carefully packaged and shipped to your location, locally or internationally.
- Framing and Presentation: Discuss framing options, and I can arrange for delivery with framing (additional costs apply).
- Local Pickup: Arrange for in-person collection if you’re nearby or prefer local pickup.
Yes, you can certainly request a digital copy or prints of the commissioned portrait. Here’s how this typically works:
- Digital Copy: Request a high-resolution digital file for various uses like social media, printing, or archiving. This would be free of cost.
- Prints: Options for physical prints, including fine art, canvas, or traditional photo prints. Additional charges may apply based on size, quality, and quantity.
- Framing: If you choose to frame the prints, framing costs will be included, with options tailored to your preferences.
- Shipping: For physical prints, expect associated shipping costs, varying based on destination and chosen shipping method.
Caring for and preserving the painting is important to ensure its longevity. Here are some essential tips for maintaining your portrait:
- Framing: Proper framing not only enhances the presentation but also provides protection from dust and physical damage.
- Display Location: Choose a suitable location for displaying the artwork. Avoid direct sunlight, and extreme humidity, as these can damage the artwork over time.
- Storage: If you need to store the artwork for an extended period, keep it in a cool, dry, and dark place. Ensure that it’s protected from potential bending or creasing during storage.
- Avoid Touching: Minimize touching the artwork with your hands, as natural oils and moisture from your skin can transfer to the surface and affect the colors and materials over time.
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the artwork for any signs of damage, discoloration, or other issues. Early detection allows for timely intervention and preservation.
The beginning stage of the portrait creation process involves receiving your approval to ensure it is aligned with your vision and expectations. Here’s how the process typically works:
- Receive and Review: After the outline drawing of the subject is complete, you will be provided with a high-resolution image of the line drawing.
- Feedback: If you have any feedback or suggestions at this stage, please feel free to provide them.
- Adjustments: I will make necessary adjustments based on your feedback to ensure the drawing meets your expectations.
- Approval: Once the adjustments are made and approved, I shall proceed with the rendering process to add the details.
